Ron Paracha, HostBreak.com Hosting Services, Machsol.com, AffordableStaff.com
NOTE: since this page was published HostBreak.com have removed my work from their portfolio, but their original portfolio pages are still available at foot of page.
One of my clients spotted a few referrals in their web logs from a website and went to check it out. They were surprised to see the website I had designed and built for them listed in the web design portfolio of HostBreak.com.
I was even more surprised when I saw that almsot my entire portfolio was listed in 'their' portfolio. About one half of their portfolio is actually my work!
It's obviously dishonest claiming a website as your own work when it isn't. It's also stupid, but that stupidity takes on monumental proportions when there is a link in the footer of every page to the real designer, for example Sculpture To Wear.
Dishonesty and stupidity on display ...
Just to make sure there was no ... ummm ... confusion, I wrote an anonymous email to HostBreak.com, asking about their web design services. I asked how much it would cost for something like Sculpture To Wear, if the same designer would be available and how it was built. Here's the reply I received:
Thanks for your email. You have enquired about http://www.sculpturetowear.co.uk. This website was custom design and the whole shopping system you see on this site was coded by our programmers. This website was completed in $3500. The same designer is available to design a similar or even better site for you. The designing and coding takes 6 weeks to complete. If you give me your phone number I can call you discuss your requirements etc. Thank you, --------------------- Ron Paracha Business Development www.hostbreak.com www.machsol.com www.affordablestaff.com tel (us): 1-(813)-600-5691 tel (pk): 92-51-458-2205
The reality, Mr Paracha, is that it was built using an open source ecommerce package and, rather significantly, it was designed and built by me! Also, it won't cost $3500, nor will it take 6 weeks.
Spread the good word
It'd be nice to think this dishonesty reaped the reward it deserves - so feel free to link to this page and spread the word far and wide. If you want to help, please Digg It!
Have a nice day, Ron!
Recorded for posterity ...
In case Mr Paracha decides to remove my work from 'his' portfolio, here it is for posterity:
